Pune Deploys 120 Lifeguards Across 15 Ganpati Visarjan Ghats
Pune is preparing for Ganpati idol immersions during Anant Chaturdashi.
The city will place 120 lifeguards at 15 important immersion locations.
Firefighters will also bring life jackets, rescue rings and ropes.
Barricades, ramps, lights, toilets and cameras will help make the sites safer.
A control room will connect emergency workers from several departments.
People will be asked not to go too close to the water.
The city is also encouraging artificial immersion tanks instead of rivers and other natural water bodies.
Some clay from immersed idols will be collected and reused.
Pune Municipal Corporation will deploy 120 lifeguards at 15 immersion ghats for Anant Chaturdashi.
The Fire Brigade has prepared 28 life jackets, 14 rescue rings and 14 ropes for emergencies.
Floodlights will be installed at about 277 locations, with around 390 CCTV cameras covering 14 sites.
A 24-hour emergency control room will coordinate with fire, police, health and traffic departments on September 25.
The PMC has urged citizens to use artificial immersion facilities and support idol reuse and waste-management efforts.
