UN envoy warns Houthi attacks risk full-scale conflict in Yemen
A group called the Houthis, who control parts of Yemen, attacked a city called Mocha on the coast of the Red Sea.
They used missiles and flying machines called drones.
At least eight people were killed and many more were hurt in the attack.
The attack damaged the city's port and other important buildings.
The United Nations has a special helper named Hans Grundberg who works to keep peace in Yemen.
He said he is very worried the fighting could get much bigger.
Yemen has been mostly calm since 2022, when the UN helped countries agree to a truce.
This attack is the worst fighting since that peaceful agreement.
Mr. Grundberg asked everyone to be calm and careful so the country can stay peaceful.
UN Special Envoy Hans Grundberg warned that Houthi attacks on the government-held city of Mocha could push Yemen back toward full-scale conflict.
At least eight people were killed and about 32 wounded in Houthi missile and drone strikes on Mocha and other government-held areas along Yemen's western coast.
The attacks were described as the most significant intensification of military activity since a UN-brokered truce took effect in April 2022.
Mocha Port director Abdulmalik al-Sharabi said the Houthis launched dozens of drones, with about 25 striking economic facilities, employee housing and a customs hangar.
Yemen's Transport Ministry said ballistic missiles and drones caused severe damage to the port, and it raised preparedness levels at ports, airports and land crossings in government-held areas.
