Guntur Corporation to Relocate 29 Trees, Remove 44 Unsafe Ones
In the city of Guntur, a road is being made wider.
To do that, some trees that grow near the road need to be moved.
Scientists from a university checked all the trees there.
They found 44 trees were sick because tiny bugs called termites were eating them.
Sick trees could fall down and hurt people, so they need to be removed.
The other 29 trees are strong and healthy.
Those trees will be carefully dug up and planted in a new home.
The city will follow the rules when removing the sick trees.
The city has already planted more than 7,000 new baby trees elsewhere.
So the city is trying to keep people safe and still keep the city green.
Guntur Municipal Corporation will relocate 29 healthy avenue trees and remove 44 damaged ones during road-widening works between Hanumayya Company and Brindavan Gardens Centre.
Experts from Acharya Nagarjuna University's Botany and Microbiology departments assessed all 73 trees on the stretch.
Termites and wood-boring pests have weakened 44 trees, making them prone to collapse during strong winds and adverse weather.
The 29 healthy trees will be scientifically transplanted to suitable sites within GMC limits under expert supervision.
The GMC has planted more than 7,000 geo-tagged saplings across the city to protect the green cover.
