Punjab Congress Chief Warring Launches Outreach Amid Channi Battle

Punjab Congress Chief Warring Launches Outreach Amid Channi Battle
Facing 'Battle Channi', Amarinder Warring Launches Outreach For Congress Workers · NDTV

In Punjab, a state in India, there is a big political group called the Congress party.

Mr. Warring, the person in charge of Congress in Punjab, started a new online meeting called 'Sunday With Warring and Warriors' to talk with the party's workers.

He did this because another leader, Mr. Channi, wants Mr. Warring to no longer be in charge.

During a nine-day trip around Punjab, some of Mr. Channi's supporters shouted and made trouble at Mr. Warring's events.

Mr. Channi did not attend any of the events during that trip.

In his first talk, Mr. Warring remembered hard times when Congress had only 18 seats after winning 80 before, and many sad workers left the party.

He said the workers gave him support when he felt lost and lonely, so now he wants to help them in return.

He wants ordinary people who worked for the party for 30 years to become important leaders.

Mr. Warring did not say mean things about Mr. Channi, but he called the troubles 'challenges' and said he can face them with the workers' help.

Another leader, Mr. Baghel, is about to tell the party's top bosses what is happening in Punjab.
