Odisha Approves Rs 3,406-Crore Silicon Carbide Semiconductor Project
Odisha is going to get a new factory that makes special computer and electronics parts.
These parts are called silicon carbide semiconductors.
The company building it is SiCSem Private Limited, which is based in Tamil Nadu.
The factory will be located at IDCO Infovalley-II in Khordha district.
It is expected to cost about Rs 3,406 crore.
The factory plans to make millions of diodes and MOSFETs every year.
Some of the money will come from government subsidies and the company’s promoters.
The project is also expected to help India export more advanced technology products.
The Unit Approval Committee of Falta SEZ approved SiCSem Private Limited’s proposed Odisha semiconductor facility.
The Rs 3,406.25-crore project will be built across 21.889 acres at IDCO Infovalley-II in Khordha district.
The facility will manufacture silicon carbide diodes and SiC MOSFETs.
Planned annual capacity includes 4.8 million SiC diodes and 91.2 million SiC MOSFETs.
The project is expected to generate Rs 7,043 crore in export turnover over five years.
