Hashan Tillakaratne appointed Sri Lanka senior batting coach
Sri Lanka has chosen former captain Hashan Tillakaratne to help its senior men’s cricket team improve its batting.
He started this job on August 20, 2026.
His contract is scheduled to last until December 31, 2027.
Tillakaratne played international cricket for Sri Lanka from 1989 to 2003.
He played 83 Test matches and 200 one-day matches.
He scored more than 8,200 runs during his playing career.
He was part of Sri Lanka’s 1996 Men’s ODI World Cup-winning team.
He has also coached Sri Lanka’s men’s and women’s teams and Bangladesh’s women’s team.

Sri Lanka Cricket said Tillakaratne began the role on August 20, 2026, under a contract running through December 31, 2027.
Tillakaratne played 83 Tests and 200 ODIs for Sri Lanka between 1989 and 2003, scoring more than 8,200 international runs.
The 1996 Men’s ODI World Cup winner previously coached Sri Lanka’s men’s and women’s teams and Bangladesh’s women’s team.
