Kashmiri Pandits Rehabilitation Bill Introduced in Lok Sabha Amid Protests
Every year, India's leaders gather in Parliament to make new laws.
Right now they are in the middle of the Monsoon Session, their meeting during the rainy season.
On Friday, lawmakers discussed many new bills — ideas for new laws.
One bill would help Kashmiri Pandits, a community that had to leave their homes long ago, get their homes and rights back.
Another new law changes some tax rules to help businesses grow.
Some leaders from the opposition, the parties not in power, are very unhappy.
They want the Home Minister, the country's top safety official, to explain why police used force at a protest in July.
They also want answers about money donated to build the Ram Mandir temple.
Religious leaders met the Home Minister to ask him to stop a law that restricts foreign donations.
Police also detained people, including holy men called sadhus, who were protesting outside a leader's house.
On Day 14 of the Parliament Monsoon Session, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is set to introduce the Kashmiri Pandits (Recourse, Restitution, Rehabilitation and Resettlement) Bill, 2025 in the Lok Sabha.
The Lok Sabha will consider the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026, to be moved by Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi.
The Lok Sabha passed the Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which replaces the Income-tax (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026, to boost investment and support manufacturing.
Opposition MPs will protest at Parliament's Makar Dwar gate, demanding a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the July 20 police action at Jantar Mantar and answers on alleged irregularities in Ram Mandir donations.
A delegation of around 16 religious leaders met Amit Shah seeking withdrawal of the FCRA Amendment Bill, 2026, while Delhi Police detained protesters, including sadhus, outside Rahul Gandhi's residence.
