Parliament Monsoon Session: Amit Shah to Present Two Bills

India's Parliament is having a special work period called the Monsoon Session.

This work period is ending soon, so leaders are trying to finish passing their new laws.

One of the proposed laws would change the name of the state of Kerala to Keralam.

Another law would give more power to a group that helps cooperatives, which are businesses owned by their members.

A third proposed law would let the central government control land that contains minerals.

Parliament is also talking about a law called FCRA, which controls how money can be received from other countries.

Leaders want a special committee to study that law more carefully before deciding.

Some people are angry about how police treated protesters at a place called Jantar Mantar.

The Home Minister, Amit Shah, promised to talk about it in Parliament, but only if lawmakers stay quiet while he speaks.

A Congress member also asked Parliament to look into missing donations at temples.
