Telangana Schools Begin Disability Screening, Green Ratings Across State
Telangana is asking every school in the state to take part in two programs.
One program helps teachers notice signs that a child may need disability-related support.
It is called PRASHAST and covers students from Pre-Primary to Class XII.
Teachers will first learn how to use the screening tool.
Special Educators will check cases when more review is needed.
The second program asks schools to examine how clean, safe and environmentally friendly they are.
Schools must finish this green and sanitation assessment by September 30.
The department hopes more Telangana schools will receive national recognition this year.
All 42,082 Telangana schools will conduct disability screening and green-practice assessments this year.
The PRASHAST initiative covers children from Pre-Primary through Class XII and all 21 recognised disability conditions.
About 365,000 teachers must complete PRASHAST sensitisation training by August 31.
Regular teachers will conduct initial screening, while Special Educators will verify cases when needed.
Schools must register for SHVR and complete self-assessments covering sanitation, water, hygiene, waste and sustainability by September 30.
