Partition Horrors Remembrance Day Observed In Panvel; Survivors Share Memories
Long ago, before India became free, the country was split into two parts in an event called the Partition.
Many people had to leave their homes and suffered greatly.
Every year, India takes time to remember what happened.
The city of Panvel held a special event for this remembrance day.
Leaders like MLA Prashant Thakur and Mayor Nitin Patil told people to remember the pain of Partition even while celebrating freedom.
People whose families lived through Partition came and told their stories.
There was a play about Captain Vinayak Gore, a soldier who died in the Kargil War.

The Panvel Municipal Corporation organised Partition Horrors Remembrance Day at Adya Krantiveer Vasudev Balwant Phadke Natyagruha in Panvel on Friday.

Partition survivors Poonam Jethlani, Chandrakant Devani, Gopichand Wadhwa and Adv. Manohar Sachdev were felicitated and shared their families' experiences of displacement.
Raigad and Thane District Information Officer Manoj Sanap performed a solo act, Shaheed Captain Vinayak Gore, about the Kargil War martyr.
Tributes included a signature board, a two-minute silence, a mobile phone torch display, the exhibition Bharat Ka Vibhajan – Smritiyan, Peeda and a patriotic musical programme.
