The government of Assam, a state in India, wants to make sure children who attend school get enough healthy food.

Leaders saw that some children had to choose between going to school and getting enough nutrition.

So the government is making its school meal program bigger and better this year.

About 28.97 lakh children will be covered by the program in 2026-27.

Many schools have started little gardens, called Nutrition Gardens, where they grow healthy food.

Around 43,670 schools have set up these gardens.

Children are also getting healthy drinks made from ragi, a nutritious grain rich in minerals.

About 11.75 lakh children are receiving these ragi-based drinks.

Around 4.75 lakh children also get two extra eggs every week for more protein.

The goal is to help children grow healthy, attend school regularly, focus better, and learn well.
