Northeast Weaves Take Center Stage at Delhi Fashion Week
Delhi Fashion Week included a special show about the cultures of Northeast India.
The show displayed traditional fabrics, clothing and designs in modern styles.
Designers and weavers from Meghalaya presented clothing made with Ryndia silk.
Dancer Kanchan Chakma was the showstopper for that collection.
Models also wore traditional clothes representing the Seven Sister states.
Performers from Manipur presented a special dance.
The event showed how women and craftspeople help preserve important traditions.
It also showed how fashion can help Northeast artists and businesses reach more people.
International Reinvent Northeast – Season 8 showcased Northeast India’s handlooms, weavers, women, culture and contemporary fashion at Delhi Fashion Week 2026.
The presentation was held on 27 August 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi during the five-day Film Expo India.
A Meghalaya collection by designer Batkyntilin Mawthou and weaver Iaineh featured contemporary designs made with Ryndia silk.
Celebrity dancer Kanchan Chakma was the showstopper for the Ryndia silk presentation, while performers from Manipur presented a special Manipuri dance.
The event also featured traditional attire from the Seven Sister states, Eri Silk garments from NEHHDC’s Purbashree brand, and models from across India.
