Food Safety Department Inspects Indira Canteen Kitchens in Bengaluru

Some important people called food safety inspectors visited kitchens in Bengaluru, a big city in India.

These kitchens belong to special canteens called Indira Canteens, where the government serves very cheap food to people.

A former leader named Siddaramaiah started these canteens when he led the state from 2013 to 2018.

The inspectors wanted to make sure the kitchens are clean and the food is safe to eat.

They have rules, called food safety standards, that everyone who makes food must follow.

The inspectors also checked some big fancy hotels in the city and took food samples to send to laboratories for testing.

Meanwhile, a group called the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the opposition, said it is ashamed that the canteens cannot provide even minimum hygiene and quality food.

The government says these checks are meant to make sure everyone follows the food safety rules.
