US Partially Lifts Duties on Indian Aluminium Can Stock
The United States changed some rules for aluminium imported from India.
Certain aluminium used to make cans, lids and tabs will no longer face the affected duties.
The change also covers qualifying products from several other countries.
It does not remove all duties on all aluminium sheet.
The US Commerce Department made the change after the aluminium industry asked for clearer rules.
The department said this type of can stock was always meant to be outside the orders.
The change can apply to qualifying shipments that have not yet had their duties finally calculated.
US Customs and Border Protection will be told to stop holding eligible shipments under the affected orders.
