Tamil Nadu Police Expand Women and Child Safety Efforts
The Tamil Nadu Police are using a special team to help protect women and children.
This team is called the Singappen Special Force.
During one week, it responded to hundreds of complaints and helped open criminal cases.
It also found missing women and children and brought them home safely.
The team held thousands of safety programmes for students, workers and the public.

The Singappen Special Force attended 258 complaints and helped register 14 criminal cases from September 4 to 10.
Teams traced four missing women and four missing children and returned them safely to their families.
The force conducted 3,484 awareness programmes and patrolled or surveilled 13,581 vulnerable locations.
SSF interventions rescued six people with intellectual disabilities, prevented six child marriages and helped 71 dropout children re-enrol in school.
In Salem, two men were arrested after a 14-year-old student reported alleged sexual abuse and threats.
