Kishan Pethani had a very sick heart for nearly two years.

Doctors said he needed a heart transplant to survive.

He could not easily afford the treatment, so he asked Gujarat Health Minister Praful Pansheriya for help.

The minister recommended him to U.N. Mehta Heart Hospital in Ahmedabad.

Doctors performed the transplant on June 27.

Kishan recovered and said he could walk and run again.

Hospital staff celebrated his birthday with him during his recovery.

The minister encouraged families to consider donating organs after brain death because donations can help many people.
