BSE To Replace Wipro In Nifty 50 Index
The Nifty 50 is like a team list of India's biggest companies.
A special committee checks this list twice a year.
They look at how big each company is by the value of its shares.
BSE is a stock exchange, a place where people buy and sell company shares.
Wipro is a company that makes computer software.
The committee found that BSE's share value is now much bigger than Wipro's.
So BSE will take Wipro's place on the list.
This is a big honor for BSE.
Its share price went up because investors were excited.
The new list will be official on September 30, 2026.
BSE will replace IT firm Wipro in the Nifty 50 index following NSE Indices' semi-annual review.
The change is effective after market hours on September 29, 2026, and applicable from September 30, 2026.
BSE qualified with a higher six-month average free-float market capitalisation of Rs 1.40 trillion (₹1,40,879 crore), at least 1.5 times Wipro's Rs 55,930 crore.
BSE shares rallied 4 per cent on Monday, closing at Rs 3,596 apiece, in anticipation of the inclusion.
Wipro will move to the Nifty Next 50, and the replacement also affects the Nifty50 Equal Weight index, Nifty 100, Nifty 500, Nifty Midcap 150 and other indices.
