BSE Joins Nifty 50, Wipro Exits; Deals, Approvals in Focus
Every six months, India's big stock market changes which companies are on its most important list.
This time, a company called BSE will join the top list, called the Nifty 50, and a technology company called Wipro will move off it.
Two other big technology companies, TCS and HCLTech, are checking claims from a hacker group who said some employee information might have been exposed.
The companies say they found no evidence that customer information or their main computer systems were broken into.
A medicine company called Lupin got permission from the United States to sell a medicine that helps people whose bodies have too much potassium.
A hotel company called Lemon Tree Hotels is planning new hotels in Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
A big Canadian pension fund wants to invest up to ₹3,000 crore in another hotel company for a stake of up to 28 percent.
Some defence companies got big new orders, including simulators for the Indian armed forces and communication equipment.
Taken together, these announcements show many Indian companies making big business moves at the same time.
BSE will enter the Nifty 50 index replacing Wipro effective September 30, as part of the NSE's half-yearly review; Wipro moves to the Nifty Next 50.
TCS and HCLTech said they are investigating hacker claims of possible exposure of limited employee data, with no evidence of customer or company system breaches.
Lupin received US FDA approval for Sodium Zirconium Cyclosilicate for Oral Suspension, a bioequivalent treatment for hyperkalemia in adults.
