India Repatriates Over 4,000 Seafarers Amid Iran-US Conflict
Fighting started in a part of the world called West Asia.
The United States and Israel attacked Iran, and Iran fought back by sending attacks toward Israel and American military bases.
Because of the fighting, ships in a narrow waterway called the Strait of Hormuz became unsafe.
Many ships carry oil through this waterway, so the whole world worried about getting enough energy.
India had many sailors, called seafarers, working on ships in that area.
India brought more than 4,000 of its sailors back home to keep them safe.
Sadly, sixteen Indian people lost their lives in the conflict, and ten of them were sailors.
Leaders from the United States and Iran are trying to make a deal to stop the fighting.
Iran says it will only let ships travel through the waterway again if the United States agrees to all of its conditions, including paying for war damage.
India has repatriated 4,048 Indian seafarers from West Asia since the conflict broke out on February 28.
Sixteen Indians have been killed during the conflict, ten of them seafarers, according to the Union government.
The US and Israel launched an attack on Iran on February 28, and Iran retaliated by striking Israel and US military bases.
The Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20% of global petroleum supply passes, remains effectively blocked for most international commercial vessels.
