Bengal STF names five Nepal-based associates of arrested Pakistani spy
Police in a part of India called Bengal caught a man named Wahab Alam.
They say Alam is from Pakistan and works as a spy for a group called ISI.
He was arrested in a town called Habra.
The police found a small computer, called a netbook, that belonged to him.
By looking at the computer, they learned the names of five helpers who live in Nepal.
Alam told police that these helpers passed messages between him and his spy bosses in Pakistan.
The police also learned about another helper named Pavel who lives in Bangladesh.
Alam was planning to run away to Bangladesh, but police stopped him before he could leave.
West Bengal's Special Task Force (STF) secured the names of five Nepal-based associates of Wahab Alam, the arrested Pakistani national with ISI links.
The names were recovered by cracking data from a netbook seized from Alam, who later confessed during interrogation.
The five Nepal-based operators oversaw Alam's franchise business but served as principal contact points between Alam and his ISI handlers in Pakistan.
STF also identified a Bangladesh-based operator named Pavel, operating from Jessore, who was to arrange a safehouse for Alam.
Alam, who entered and settled in West Bengal via Nepal in 2012, planned to escape to Bangladesh; STF seeks details from Nepal and Bangladesh through the Union Ministry of External Affairs' diplomatic channel.
