NIA probes ISI-linked Pakistani national held in West Bengal
The police in West Bengal, a state in India, arrested a man named Wahab Alam, who comes from Pakistan.
They think he was a spy working for a secret organization in Pakistan called the ISI.
A spy secretly tries to find out information that their country is not supposed to know.
The police believe Alam entered India secretly through a country called Nepal.
They say he used fake papers to enter India in 2012.
Police think he was told to collect information about the Indian Army, the Indian Navy, and Indian Railways.
A special team called the NIA is now helping with the investigation.
Another man named Mohammad Izaz is also in police custody for helping Alam stay in India.
Police are checking Alam's phone and other devices for clues.
They are also trying to get information about his wife Shilu from Nepal.
The NIA has begun collecting information about Pakistani national Wahab Alam, who was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) of the West Bengal Police in Habra, North 24 Parganas.
Preliminary STF investigation alleged links between Alam and Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Alam allegedly entered India illegally in 2012 via Nepal using forged Indian identity documents.
The NIA also sought details on arrested co-accused Mohammad Izaz, who allegedly helped arrange Alam's settlement in India and remains in STF custody.
Investigators believe Alam was allegedly sent by the ISI to gather information about the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Railways in the eastern sector.
