UP Teen Stages Own Kidnapping to Extort Rs 5 Lakh

A 19-year-old man pretended that he had been kidnapped.

He is from Banda district in Uttar Pradesh.

He was living in Pune, Maharashtra, and did not have a steady job.

He kept asking his family for money but was still struggling.

So he thought of a trick to get a large amount at once.

He told his family that bad people had kidnapped him and would only free him if they paid Rs 5 lakh.

He even recorded a video of himself crying to make the story believable.

His worried family called the police, who tracked his phone to a lodge.

Officers found him safe, and he admitted the whole kidnapping was fake.

The police then took him into custody.
