Bengaluru Metro airport line 72% complete, to meet 2027 deadline
Bengaluru is a big city in India, and lots of people ride trains called metros to get around.
Right now, workers are building a new metro line that will go from a busy area called Silk Board all the way to the city's airport.
Soon people will be able to take the metro to the airport instead of driving in traffic.
The metro company, called BMRCL, said the work is almost three-quarters done.
That means about 72 out of every 100 parts of the work are finished.
The company promised it will be finished by the year 2027.
A big station called KR Puram is in the middle of the line.
The part from Silk Board to KR Puram should open in late 2026.
The part near the airport should open in mid-2027.
The hardest part, between KR Puram and Hebbal, will be finished by the end of 2027.
Bengaluru Metro's Blue Line, linking Silk Board to Kempegowda International Airport, is 72.75% complete.
BMRCL said it will stick to the 2027 timeline despite the incomplete work.
The Silk Board–KR Puram stretch is slated to open by late 2026.
The Hebbal–KIA stretch is expected by mid-2027 and the KR Puram–Hebbal stretch by the end of 2027.
The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs told the Lok Sabha on July 30 that phases 2A and 2B, spanning 58.19 km, were 72.75% complete.
