Bengaluru Airport Metro Blue Line crosses 72% construction milestone
Bengaluru is a big city in India with lots of traffic.
Many people drive on the roads and get stuck in jams.
A special train called the Metro is being built to help them travel faster.
This new train line is called the Blue Line.
It will go from one part of the city all the way to the airport.
The builders have finished 72% of the work so far.
They hope to finish building by June 2027.
Once it opens, people can ride the train instead of driving their cars.
The train is expected to carry about 6.15 lakh passengers every day.
It will also help make the roads less crowded and maybe bring new homes and shops near the stations.
The Namma Metro Blue Line has crossed the 72% construction completion mark.
The elevated corridor will span 58.19 km with 30 Metro stations, linking Central Silk Board to Kempegowda International Airport.
Phase 2A covers Central Silk Board to KR Pura (19.75 km), while Phase 2B runs from KR Pura to the airport via Hebbal and Yelahanka (38.44 km).
BMRCL aims to complete remaining construction by June 2027, with phased commissioning and full operations expected by the end of 2027.
The project is projected to serve around 6.15 lakh passengers daily and is expected to reduce congestion on the Outer Ring Road, cut carbon emissions and support real estate demand along the corridor.
The project previously faced hurdles including land acquisition issues, tree-clearance approvals, heavy traffic, labour shortages and safety-related disruptions.
