SVIMS Uses Asleep DBS Technique in Advanced Brain Surgery
Doctors at SVIMS performed an advanced brain treatment on a 23-year-old patient.
The treatment used special electrodes placed on both sides of the brain.
The patient was asleep under anaesthesia during the operation.
This method is called Asleep DBS.
It means the patient does not have to stay awake while doctors place the electrodes.
Financial assistance helped pay for the treatment.
SVIMS also treated a 67-year-old patient for severe neck pain and related problems.
Both patients recovered and left the hospital on Wednesday.

SVIMS performed bilateral Globus Pallidus Internus Deep Brain Stimulation on 23-year-old Bokka Naga Satish.
The Asleep DBS procedure was completed under anaesthesia, avoiding the need for the patient to remain conscious.
Satish received Rs 10 lakh in financial assistance from TTD and Dr NTR Vaidya Seva Trust.
A second patient, 67-year-old Nagireddy Siddareddy, underwent complex treatment for severe neck pain and related problems.
Both patients recovered and were discharged on Wednesday, with support from SVIMS neurosurgery teams.
