Canada is a country in North America with rules about who can stay and live there.

Sometimes people break those rules, and Canada sends them back to their home country.

In the first six months of 2026, Canada sent 3,323 people back to India.

That is nearly as many as in the whole of 2025, when it sent back a record 3,779 people.

Most of them broke immigration rules, had their refugee requests refused, stayed too long, or were involved in visa fraud.

Indians are now the biggest group being sent back from Canada, even bigger than the 1,573 people sent back to Mexico.

Another 7,669 people from India are still waiting to be removed.

Canada is making its immigration rules stricter, including for students and workers.

The United States also sent 1,273 people back to India this year.
