India Clears Rs 1.1 Lakh Crore Defence Acquisition Projects
India’s Defence Acquisition Council approved many proposed purchases and projects for the armed forces.
The total value is estimated at Rs 1,10,000 crore.
The Army will receive equipment for detecting dangerous contamination, moving through difficult areas and crossing obstacles.
It will also get helicopters, mine-laying vehicles, tanks and bridge systems.
The Navy received approval for new radars and work on Marine Gas Turbines.
The Air Force will overhaul 40 Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft.
It will also acquire 2,500 radios to help aircraft and ground stations communicate securely.
New jammers and smart identity cards were approved as well.
The Defence Acquisition Council approved proposals worth an estimated Rs 1,10,000 crore.
The Army received clearances for CBRN vehicles, mobility equipment, mine layers, helicopters, tanks and bridge systems.
The Navy received approval for Arudhra Radars and development of Marine Gas Turbines.
The Air Force proposals include overhauling 40 Su-30 MKIs and acquiring 2,500 Software Defined Radios.
Ground-Based Multi-Purpose Jammers and Defence Forces Secure Access Card systems were also approved.
