Hanumangarh Farmers Break Barricades Over Pending Farm Pond Subsidies

Farmers in Hanumangarh held a tractor rally to demand money promised to them.

The money was a subsidy for building farm ponds.

The ponds were constructed under the Atal Bhujal Yojana.

Farmers said they had taken loans and were paying interest while waiting for the subsidy.

Police placed barricades at the rally’s starting point.

The farmers pushed the barricades aside, and a scuffle reportedly followed.

The rally then moved through parts of the town and ended near Bharat Mata Chowk.

Farmer leaders said they would increase the protest if the government did not solve the problem.
