Maruti, Tata Motors Report Strong September Passenger Vehicle Sales
Maruti Suzuki India and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles sold more vehicles in September 2026 than in September 2025.
Maruti sold 236,013 vehicles, which was a 24.4% increase.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles sold 70,210 vehicles, a 15% increase.
Tata’s electric vehicle sales grew especially quickly, reaching 15,384 units.
Tata said electric vehicles made up 23% of its portfolio in the second quarter.
CNG vehicles made up another 28% of Tata’s quarterly sales.
Together, electric and CNG vehicles represented 51% of Tata’s quarterly volumes.
The companies said demand remained strong before the festive season.
Tata said it would increase production gradually to meet customer demand.
Maruti Suzuki India’s total September sales rose 24.4% year-on-year to 236,013 units.
Maruti’s September sales included 185,252 domestic units, 6,542 OEM sales and 44,219 exports.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles sold 70,210 units in September, up 15% from a year earlier.
Tata Motors’ electric vehicle sales increased 67% year-on-year to 15,384 units.
