Pune RTO Launches Automated Fitness Testing for Commercial Vehicles

The government office that checks whether big vehicles like trucks and buses are safe to drive has opened a new testing centre in a place called Dive village near Pune.

Instead of people checking the vehicles by hand, machines and computers will now do the checking.

The vehicles will be scanned and tested for things like working brakes, good tyres, and clean exhaust smoke.

If a vehicle passes, it gets a special digital certificate showing it is fit to drive.

If it does not pass, the owner must fix the problems and bring the vehicle back for another test.

The new system is meant to be faster and fairer because machines do not have personal opinions.

Drivers are not allowed inside the testing lane while the check happens, so nobody can tamper with the results.

At first, vehicles that already had appointments under the old manual system will still be tested the old way.

Within about a month, the new automated system should be fully working for everyone.
