65-Year-Old Man Arrested for Rape, Murder of Woman, Baby
A very sad crime happened in a village in India.
A bad man hurt a mom and her little baby.
The mom was 35 years old and lived on a farm with her baby, who was only 10 months old.
One night in July, the man came into their house.
He tried to hurt the mom, and when she said no, he hit her very hard.
Then he hurt the baby too, and the baby died.
The mom was hurt very badly and later died in the hospital.
The police worked hard to find the bad man because nobody saw what happened.
They found clues and a mark on his hand, arrested him, and he confessed.
Now the man is in jail while the police keep investigating.
Bhikariram Nagvanshi, 65, was arrested on August 6 for the rape and murder of a woman and her 10-month-old daughter in Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh.
The crime took place on the night of July 15 at a remote farm in Chhaparani village under Lailunga police station limits.
Police said the victim, a 35-year-old widow reportedly suffering from mental health issues, was struck repeatedly with a brick when she resisted the rape attempt and later died during treatment.
The accused allegedly strangled and struck the crying infant with a brick, killing her on the spot, before fleeing through the fields and changing out of his bloodstained dhoti.
Nagvanshi confessed during interrogation and was produced before a local court on Friday, which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.
