Komatireddy Joins Varuna Yagam, Prays for Abundant Rain
Some very important leaders in the Indian state of Telangana came together to take part in a special ceremony.
The ceremony is called Varuna Yagam and it is a prayer to Lord Varuna, who people believe is the god of rain.
The leaders prayed for lots of rain to fall on Telangana.
Rain is very important because farmers need it to grow crops and food for everyone.
The leaders also prayed for good harvests, full reservoirs and happy farmers.
One minister said that the state can only prosper when its farmers are happy.
The leaders hoped the water from rain would reach every farm field.
They also prayed for the health, wealth and long life of the people who live in Telangana.
Telangana Roads, Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy participated in the Varuna Yagam at Nagarjuna Sagar.
The ceremony was led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and included Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Endowments Minister Konda Surekha.
The prayers sought abundant rainfall across the state, good crop yields and the happiness, prosperity and well-being of the people.
Venkat Reddy said a state can prosper only when its farmers are happy and that the yagam aimed to ensure irrigation water reaches every acre of farmland.
He prayed that the people of Telangana be blessed with good health, longevity, wealth and prosperity.
