Telangana CM's Varuna Yagam ritual draws BRS criticism
How a ritual to seek ‘bountiful’ rain has given BRS chance to target Telangana CM Revanth Reddy · indianexpress.com

Telangana is a big state in India, and its leader is Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

He did a special prayer ceremony called a Varuna Yagam.

The ceremony happened next to a huge dam called Nagarjuna Sagar Dam.

He prayed for lots of rain to fall on the state.

People in another political group called BRS were not happy about this.

They said the Chief Minister should help farmers in a practical way instead.

Earlier, Reddy had criticized BRS's leader K Chandrashekar Rao, known as KCR, for doing the same kind of prayer.

A BRS leader named K T Rama Rao said Reddy should turn on the irrigation motors to give water to farmers.

He joked that the prayer might work after that.
