Police in Beed have registered a non-cognisable case against lawyer Gunaratna Sadavarte.

The case concerns comments he allegedly made about Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange.

A Jarange supporter named Gangadhar Kalkute filed the complaint on Saturday.

The complaint says Sadavarte used insulting and controversial language.

It also alleges that he made threats that could endanger Jarange’s safety.

The remarks were allegedly made during a rally on August 21 and at a press conference.

Police recorded the case under two sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

An assistant police inspector will now handle further preventive action.
