Thousands Perform Ancestral Rites Across Tamil Nadu on Aadi Ammavasai

Many people in Tamil Nadu gathered near water on Wednesday to do special prayers for family members who have passed away.

This day is called Aadi Ammavasai, which is a new moon day.

People came to beaches, river banks, and temple water tanks to take part in the old tradition.

They offered sesame and rice balls to their ancestors and then took a holy dip in the water.

Lots of people went to famous holy places like Rameswaram and Kanyakumari.

Some people worried about a solar eclipse that day, but astrologers said it happened late at night and was not visible in India.

So there were no issues with doing the rituals.

Police and volunteers helped keep everyone safe and organized.

They even traded plastic bags for paper bags to keep the water and beaches clean.

It was a big day for many families to remember their loved ones.
