Madhya Pradesh Announces Zero Primary School Dropout Rate
Madhya Pradesh says no primary-school students dropped out this year.
A dropout is a student who leaves school before finishing.
Minister Chetanya Kasyap said the dropout rate was 15% in 2002-03.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had earlier said the rate had been zero for the last three years.
He made that statement during a school visit in Indore.
He spoke with students and gave them sweets.
The state also said it is among the leading states putting the National Education Policy into practice.
The department and the chief minister described the timing of the zero-dropout achievement differently.
