In 2024, a lady doctor was hurt and killed at a hospital in West Bengal, India, and this made the whole country very sad.

Two years later, on the anniversary of the crime, the leader of the state, Suvendu Adhikari, ordered a completely new investigation.

The doctor's mother, Ratna Debnath, asked for this new investigation herself, and she is now a lawmaker for a political party called the BJP.

The new investigation will use a special law called the Special Commission Act, 1952.

The chief minister said the police did not do their job properly the first time.

He also asked for a separate check into how the doctor's body was cremated, because some things did not go the way they should have.

He promised that the state has not forgotten the doctor, whom he called 'Abhaya', and will keep fighting until justice is done.

The government also says it will take very strict action against crimes against women.

One man, Sanjay Roy, was already sent to prison for life for this crime, but the doctor's family says other people were involved too.
