Centre Raises Rabi Crop Support Prices for 2027-28 Season
The government raised the prices it promises to pay for several winter crops.
These guaranteed prices are called minimum support prices, or MSPs.
The new prices will apply during the 2027-28 marketing season.
Wheat, barley, gram, masur, rapeseed and mustard, and safflower all received higher prices.
Safflower received the biggest increase.
Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu said the changes would help farmers.
He also said better prices for pulses and oilseeds may encourage farmers to grow different crops.
The state government plans to help farmers obtain seeds, fertilisers and other supplies on time.
The Centre increased minimum support prices for all designated rabi crops for the 2027-28 marketing season.
Wheat MSP was fixed at ₹2,610 per quintal, while masur was set at ₹7,390.
Safflower received the largest increase, rising by ₹675 per quintal from the previous season.
Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu said higher prices could encourage crop diversification and help farmers.
The state government said it would ensure timely inputs and consider market intervention when necessary.
