Cabinet May Raise Rabi Crop MSP, Extend Ujjwala Subsidy
The Union Cabinet may soon discuss several important proposals.
One proposal would increase guaranteed prices for six crops grown in the Rabi season.
These crops include wheat, barley, gram, masur, rapeseed-mustard and safflower.
Guaranteed prices help farmers know the minimum price they can receive for their produce.
Another proposal would expand power lines and other equipment to carry renewable energy.
This plan could cost about ₹54,000 crore between FY27 and FY33.
The Cabinet may also continue a subsidy for eligible Ujjwala cooking-gas users.
The subsidy is currently ₹300 for each 14.2-kilogram LPG cylinder, within an approved refill limit.
The Union Cabinet and CCEA may consider higher MSPs for six Rabi crops for the 2027-28 marketing season.
The proposed MSP revision covers wheat, barley, gram, masur, rapeseed-mustard and safflower.
The Green Energy Corridor-III proposal could require around ₹54,000 crore between FY27 and FY33.
The proposed third phase would expand transmission infrastructure for integrating renewable energy into the national grid.
