Modi and Uzbekistan Deepen Shared Vision During Tashkent Talks
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev welcomed him at the airport.
The two leaders want India and Uzbekistan to work more closely together.
They plan to discuss trade, investment, defence, energy, technology, health and education.
They also want to strengthen cultural ties between their people.
Modi visited a monument in Tashkent and plans to visit places linked to India’s cultural presence there.
After Uzbekistan, he will travel to Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan for a major regional meeting.
The meeting is the 26th summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a two-nation Central Asia visit with a welcome from Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent.
The leaders pledged to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, defence, digital connectivity, energy, education, health and culture.
Modi and Mirziyoyev visited the Yangi Uzbekistan Monument, where Modi laid a wreath.
India-Uzbekistan bilateral trade was close to US$1 billion in 2025-26, while Indian investment in Uzbekistan was nearly another US$1 billion.
Modi will travel to Bishkek for the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit and is expected to meet Kyrgyz and other SCO leaders.
