Andhra tenant farmers seek drought relief, compensation, new tenancy law

A group of farmers in a place called Andhra Pradesh is asking their state government for help.

The group is called the Tenant Farmers' Association.

Tenant farmers are farmers who grow crops on land that belongs to someone else.

The farmers say there has not been enough rain this year because of El Niño, a weather pattern that changes rainfall around the world.

They want the government to say which areas are in a drought.

That way, farmers can get money to help them.

They are asking for at least 10,000 rupees for each acre of farmland.

They also want seeds, fertilisers and pesticides to cost less.

The farmers want the people who actually work the land to get the help, not just the people who own the land.

They are also asking for money to support families of farmers who have died, so that farmers do not lose hope.
