DGPs to meet in Indore for Simhastha security, anti-drug strategy
A big meeting of police leaders is happening in Indore, a city in India.
The top police officers are called Directors General of Police, or DGPs.
They are coming from many states in western India with their teams.
At the meeting, they will talk about how to keep people safe.
They will plan security for big religious festivals called Simhastha.
One festival will be in Ujjain in 2028, and another will be in Nashik in 2027.
They will also talk about stopping bad people who sell drugs.
The leaders want to work together to catch drug smugglers across different states.
They will also discuss stopping cybercrime and keeping women safe.
The police hope this meeting helps them cooperate better with one another.
The western regional coordination meeting of Directors General of Police will be held in Indore on August 7.
Police chiefs from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Goa and Union Territories will attend with their teams.
The agenda includes security planning for Simhastha festivals in Ujjain (2028) and Nashik (2027).
Discussions will cover cybercrime, crimes against women, expanding synthetic drug networks, border surveillance and joint operations against major smugglers.
The meeting follows Union Home Minister Amit Shah's directives to make the country drug-free and aims to form a unified strategy against interstate drug syndicates.
