NGT Chairperson Joins Plantation Drive at Indian Botanic Garden
Justice Prakash Shrivastava, who leads the National Green Tribunal, visited a large botanical garden in Howrah.
He joined a tree-planting activity in an area for rare and threatened plants.
The event was part of two environmental initiatives.
One campaign encourages people to plant trees in tribute to their mothers.
The garden has more than 12,000 living plants.
It is also home to the famous Great Banyan Tree.
The event called attention to protecting native plants and nature.

NGT Chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava visited the Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden in Howrah on Saturday, October 3.
He joined a plantation drive in the garden’s Endemic and Threatened Plant Section.
The programme was held under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign and the “Swachhata Hi Seva 2026” initiative.
The garden covers about 273 acres and contains more than 12,000 living plants, including endemic and threatened species.
Senior NGT officials also attended, and the programme highlighted biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration.
