Raigad ZP Members Oppose Transfer Of 59 Panvel Schools To PMC, Seek Market-Value Compensation · freepressjournal.in

In Panvel, there are 59 schools that belong to the local district council, called the Zilla Parishad.

The city government, called the Panvel Municipal Corporation, wants to take over these schools.

The people elected to run the district council, called ZP members, do not want this to happen.

They say the land the schools sit on is worth a lot of money now.

If the schools are handed over, they want the city to pay the full current value of that land.

They also want a promise that the land will only be used for schools and education.

The members discussed this at a big meeting at a place called Kunte Baug.

They said big decisions like this should not be made without asking elected leaders first.

They also talked about other problems, like water projects that were not done well and a big flood plan that needs more discussion.
