Postal Circle eyes record sales for Har Ghar Tiranga flags
Every year, India celebrates its Independence Day, and people are encouraged to fly the national flag.
The campaign that asks everyone to put a flag at their home is called Har Ghar Tiranga.
This year, the postal department in West Bengal is selling lots and lots of flags.
The West Bengal government ordered two million flags, and another department ordered 45,000 more.
People can buy flags at post offices or online from August 9 until August 14.
Last year, people bought thousands of flags, and this year even more are expected.
So many flags were ordered that the postal department asked for extra stock from New Delhi.
The flags are being sent through thousands of post offices.
This is the fifth year of the campaign, and it is special because it honors a famous Indian song called Vande Mataram.
It is a way for everyone to show love for their country before Independence Day.
India Post's West Bengal Postal Circle expects record national flag sales under the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign after receiving a two million flag order from the West Bengal government.
The Information and Cultural Affairs Department of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands placed an additional order for 45,000 flags.
Flag sales began on 9 August across all state post offices through online and offline channels and will continue until 14 August.
In the 2025 campaign, offline sales crossed 2.5 lakh flags while online orders reached 60,000.
The fifth-year 2026 campaign is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of India's National Song, Vande Mataram, and the West Bengal government plans to distribute 70 lakh flags before Independence Day.
