Ladakh To Get J&K High Court Bench, Regulation Now In Force · NDTV

Ladakh is moving closer to having a High Court bench of its own.

The bench would allow some High Court cases to be heard inside Ladakh.

Right now, people often have to travel outside the Union Territory for these cases.

Those journeys can be long, expensive and difficult because of the terrain and weather.

A new regulation permitting the court to sit in Ladakh began on September 5.

President Droupadi Murmu issued the regulation on August 27.

However, the bench is not ready to hear cases yet.

Officials still need to organize buildings, staff, money and other arrangements.
