Lok Sabha Speaker expunges presiding officer Jagdambika Pal's remarks

In India, there is a big meeting place called the Lok Sabha where elected leaders talk about new laws and important issues.

One day, a leader named Jagdambika Pal was temporarily in charge of running that meeting.

While he was in charge, he said some things about two other leaders, Ruchi Vira and KC Venugopal.

Those two leaders were upset because police had acted against students who marched to Parliament.

The head of the Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla, decided that Pal's words should be removed from the official record.

Removing words from the official record is called expunging, and it is a very rare thing to do.

This happened just before the leaders were going to vote on a new law called the Bankers' Books Evidence Bill, 2026.

The news about this decision came out on August 5 in New Delhi.

So in the end, Pal's words were taken out of the record, while the other leaders continued to raise their concerns.
