Kharge: Amit Shah ignored Rajya Sabha chairman's call to speak

In India, some students were hurt during protests and people say the police beat them and used strong weapons like pellet guns and tear gas.

The Congress party is one of India's big political groups.

Its leader, Mallikarjuna Kharge, wants the Home Minister, Amit Shah, to talk about what happened in Parliament, the big building where leaders make decisions for the country.

The head of the Rajya Sabha, an important part of Parliament, also said Mr. Shah should come and speak.

But Mr. Shah did not come.

Mr. Kharge thinks Mr. Shah and the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, are either ignoring Parliament or afraid to answer questions.

He wants them to say sorry to the students and their parents.

Congress has been asking for 15 days who told the police to use sticks, pellet guns and tear gas.

Mr. Kharge says if Parliament is loud and not working, it is the government's fault.

He hopes the leaders will come, speak, and apologise.
