Social Justice Hostels Receive Higher Food and Maintenance Funds
The government plans to spend more money on hostels for students from backward and most backward communities.
School students will get more money for food each month or period covered by the allowance.
College students will also receive a higher food allowance.
These increases will cost the department an extra Rs.
32 crore.

The minister also announced financial help for 100 people to open modern saloon shops.
Food allowances will rise from Rs. 1,400 to Rs. 1,800 for school hostel students and from Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 2,000 for college hostel students.
The higher food allowances will add Rs. 32 crore in departmental expenditure.
Annual maintenance funding will increase to Rs. 75,000 for school hostels and Rs. 1 lakh for college hostels.
One hundred people will receive Rs. 1.5 lakh each to open modern saloon shops.
