Andhra Pradesh to Build Permanent MJP BC Gurukul Buildings

The government of Andhra Pradesh is building new, permanent school buildings for students from backward classes.

These schools are called MJP BC residential schools, and the government is spending Rs 500 crore on them.

The money comes from a special fund.

The minister in charge, S. Savitha, told the Assembly about this plan on Monday.

This year, ten new BC gurukuls were opened, with five in Rayalaseema and five in North Andhra.

Six girls' gurukuls were also upgraded into junior colleges so that fewer girls drop out of school.

Another Rs 80 crore will be used to finish buildings that are already 70 to 80 per cent complete.

These buildings are in places like Gonabavi, Madakasira, Roddam and Pulivendula, and they should be done within six months.

About 90,676 students currently live in BC hostels.

The government is also adding CCTV cameras, water purifiers and new attendance systems to keep students safe.
